On Tuesday 12th July, South Yorkshire Police launched their “Be Wise” Summer Campaign, urging homeowners to remain vigilant and take simple steps this summer to protect themselves and their property.
Now in its second year, “Be Wise” offers top tips and advice on how to keep safe this summer, especially given the rise in seasonal crime trends at this time of year. This includes:
1. Being Wise about Home and Garden security. If you are tempted to leave doors and windows open, be vigilant. You could be leaving an open doorway for burglars to enter your home
2. If you are going on holiday, don’t advertise this on social media by posting updates or images of your trip. Likewise whilst you are on holiday don’t post anything online that could alert potential burglars to the face that your home is unoccupied.
South Yorkshire Police will be holding a number of crime prevention meetings throughout the summer. For more information about these and about the “Be Wise” campaign, please visit to the South Yorkshire Police website at www.southyorkshire.police.uk/bewise.
The “Be Wise” campaign will continue to be run by South Yorkshire Police through to the end of September 2016.
